If the VC Directory Monitoring service wont start, getting 1064 error, could be that the VC Scans folder needs re-creating
Go to: F:\VirtualCabinet & rename VCScans to old, then re-create the VCScans folder with the exact same name & sharing permissions, then go through each user folder and copy across the PDF's (dont need to copy across any folders within the user folder).
You will know if it works if when you copy across the PDF's should automatically start to dissapear
